Leather Repair Made EASY!

The repair of leather has always been a highly controversial subject.  Our industry has been limited to the available products that have been produced through minimal research and development by our industry.  Most restoration companies and technicians find themselves accepting the present standards and limit the types of jobs and clientele that they perform their services for.  This is primarily caused by fear:  1. Of not being able to please the customer. 2. Not being able to complete the job in an acceptable amount of time. 3. The worry that the repair will not hold and will have to be re-done at their expense.  This fear is legitimate, but can be remedied.

Leather Magic!™ has developed the products and techniques that will remove all of these fears and enable you to grow your business to a point that you may have never thought possible.  How can we do this?  Click Here to find out about the history and philosophy behind the Leather Magic!™ system.

Take a look at how easy our system works:

This example depicts the worst case scenario.  most repairs made will not require this extensive process, but will be similar in all other aspects.  Most repairs are completed in 30 minutes or less!

Clean & Prep Leather   First, Clean and Prep the area.  Leather Magic!™ Leather Cleaner will remove all soils and surface debris that exists.  Next, Prep the area.  Prepping is the most important step in the entire process.  Leather Magic!™ Leather Prep does much more than simply remove oils and silicones, Leather Prep actually etches the surface finish of the existing leather which enables our repair compounds and color coats to become firmly embedded into the leather itself.

Next, sand over the area.  This step is not always required, but is recommended.  Sanding will remove any loose or flaking finish from the surface area, and will also work in conjunction with Leather prep to further break the finish of the leather to encourage repair materials to embed into the leather itself.   Sand Leather

Install Subpatch   Larger cuts and holes will require the use of a sub patch material.  Leather Magic!™ uses sub patch material that is perfectly suited for a repair. This material is very thin and soft so as not to be noticeable once the repair is completed.  The sub patch is held in place by a special Leather Adhesive.  This adhesive provides a permanent bond that remains soft, flexible and unnoticeable once the repair is completed.

In situations where a large hole or missing leather exists, a leather insert should be glued to the installed sub patch.  This method reduces the amount of repair compound that is required and the amount of time spent on drying of the compound.   Install Leather Insert

Apply Leather Repair Compound   The cracks and gaps must then be filled with Leather Magic!™ Leather Repair Compound.  This compound is formulated to work in every repair situation you will encounter from slight surface scratches to major holes.  Leather Magic!™ Leather Repair compound is extremely diverse.  It remains soft, flexible and permanent and will not crack or peel even after years of continual use. It also greatly reduces the amount of inventory that you keep and eliminates the confusion of choosing the correct product for the situation.  Leather Magic!™ Leather Repair compound is impervious to cleaning materials, solvents and other foreign materials that sometimes are applied to leather.

If necessary, a simulated grain pattern may be placed onto the surface area of the repair.  This is done using Leather Magic!™ Water Based Spray Grain.  This material permanently bonds to the repair compound and remains flexible throughout its' life.  Water Based Spray Grain is applied using a Preval Spray Unit and is sandable once dry.  Numerous techniques may be applied to create a grain pattern that resembles the existing pattern   Water Based Spray Grain

Leather Dyes   Once the repair has been completed, Color Coat may then be applied to the surface.  Leather Magic!™ Water Based Color Coats are formulated to provide you with the strongest, easiest and most stable color coating system on the market.  Leather Magic!™ Color Coats are premixed for the most accurate balance of base and pigment so that no weakening of the color coat is experienced due to an excessive amount of pigment.  No primers or "pre-bottoms" are required nor "top coats". Leather Magic!™ Water Based Color Coats provide you with a finish that will outlast the original!  Less is required than conventional color coat systems, therefore you will spend much less per job with the added advantage of avoiding a "painted" appearance to the surface areas.
